Well, my friends, we got through the primary elections. But we are nowhere near being finished. Getting ready for a runoff can feel a bit like gearing up for a second round of a marathon — you have already done a lot of the work, but this is the moment that decides everything.

Runoffs usually come down to:

  • Lower turnout, which means your vote carries more weight.
  • A narrower field, so the contrast between candidates becomes sharper.
  • Confirm the date, time, and location of your runoff election.
  • Joint Runoff Election Day May 26, 2026 – Early voting begins Tuesday May 18-22.

Get Informed

  • Review candidate statements, debates, or voting records.
  • Look at endorsements from groups you trust.
  • Compare policy positions on the issues you care about most.

🗂️ Plan Your Vote

  • Decide whether you will vote early or on Election Day.
  • Map out your polling location and transportation.
  • Set a reminder — runoff dates can sneak up on people.

If You are Helping Others Prepare

  • Share official information, not rumors.
  • Encourage friends or family to make a voting plan.
  • Offer rides or help with logistics if you are able.

BUT WAIT: Before the runoff election, Richardson Bond and Charter Election and RISD Trustee Election is May 2, 2026, with early voting April 20-28.

This to amend the city charter which is done every 10 years.

The Bond Election has 5 propositions; including streets, public buildings, parks and recreation, sidewalks, and drainage, totaling $223.4 million with no anticipated increase to the property tax rate. Please refer to cor.net for additional details.
